joshua-adam-dover-hospitalMy Injuries
I had a traumatic brain injury. My left orbital eye socket, nasal cavity and cheek bone were completely crushed in. My aorta had ruptured. I had burst fractures of the T9 and T10 vertebrae in my back with minor spinal cord damage. I had 7 broken ribs. 4 inches in height across my entire stomach/mid-section had 3rd degree burns to the point of necrotic flesh which had burned all skin layers down to the fatty tissue below. I sustained minor injuries to both my shoulders. My right thumb was broken. The radius of my left arm was sheared off and my ulna was dislocated making my left hand sit one full hand-width to the right of its normal location, arguably the most gruesome injury I sustained. My right hip was shattered with several pieces of bone unsalvageable due to the damage. And finally, I had a blood clot in my left leg.

After 2 months in the hospital, I was sent home. While recovering at a family members home I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance 4 separate times. The first time for severe weakness where I was struggling to just breath, the second time due to a collapsed lung, the third time was due to paralysis and the fourth time was signs and symptoms of a stroke. During the 4th hospitalization an x-ray revealed osteonecrosis (bone death) in the head of my right femur bone which had nearly ground off completely. A week later I went in for my 9th surgery for a full hip replacement. Just before the hip surgery my thumb surgeon told me the original repair to my broken thumb did not work and I was told I will need a 10th surgery in the next few months.
