Back in the Frying Pan-How Much Pain?
Upcoming Hip Surgery

Well it looks like I am going to finally have my third hip surgery. It was over four months ago that my right leg popped out four times, the last time sending me to the emergency room to get it popped back in.

To be very honest I am looking forward to the surgery and not looking forward to it. Every time I go into the hospital it has not been a good experience in regards to the issue of pain. Invariably at some point in the hospital I am going to be in level 8-10 pain for a period of time. So in many ways I feel like I am hoping into a frying pan.

Thankfully with this surgery I have my father to be my advocate. He has made it very clear that everyone involved with the surgery needs to be proactive to ensure that I do not go into unimaginable pain and then spend hours upon hours chasing the pain. The surgeon has agreed to give me a epidural since most of pain currently even before the surgery is in my back. The doctor has also agreed to ensure they do not start out with pain medication that has never worked in the past.

Side Note: The VA for the second time messed up my narcotic prescription. That triggered my body to go into forced detox/withdrawals. This is the second time this has happened to me. This time I have decided to just stay off my narcotic pain medication since my surgery is a few weeks away and it will hopefully help the pain medication they give me after surgery be more effective.

Frying pan here I come.
