Back in the Frying Pan-Part Two
No Flame, Little Pain
Post-Op
I woke up from surgery in the same amount of pain as before surgery which was an answer to prayer as each time before, in nine other surgeries, I was in level 10 pain. Praise God! The epidural and intravenous Dilaudid (a strong narcotic) were working and I had a device that I could click myself when I needed a boost to the automatic flow of Dilaudid. About an hour after leaving the recovery room and ending up in my regular hospital room, the Physical Therapists came in. My right leg (operated one) was strong but my left leg was extremely weak and numb from the epidural. I was able to sit on the edge of the bed with assistance and then I used a walker to stand up, again with assistance. I was able to put full weight on my right leg but when I tried to put full weight on my left leg, it instantly gave out. I fell backwards onto the hospital bed with one of the therapists in tow. I was unhurt but unfortunately, she twisted her leg and hit her back on the foot of my bed.
Thus far I can no extra flame or extra pain.
